Wallpaper Wednesday: Hooked on Houses & BellFlowers

Published by under Wallpapers

My two favourite wallpapers from the new Colour for Living collection by Sanderson have to be Bellflower and St Ives.

Available as a fabric too, Bellflower features really vivid abstract foliage and flowers.  My favourite is the colourway above.

There is something particularly charming about ‘house’ and ‘handdrawn designs’ and St Ives has both of them in spades.

It is just really charming and while it would be gorgeous in a child’s bedroom, I can see adults swooning over it too. I did spend a holiday in St Ives once, many moons ago and remember its steepness of streets and numerous houses almost climbing on top of each other.

New Treehouses of the World

Published by under Interiors

I love treehouses, there is something mystical about the secrecy of them. Maybe it’s because the children have been reading Secret Seven but treehouses simply suggest secrecy to me, secret meeting, planning, or simply peace and quiet as you read a book and enjoy being on your own.

Here’s a selection of my favourites taken from a book ‘New Treehouses of the World’ by Pete Nelson. I love the take on a traditional treehouse as in the photo above but so much bigger and better than a child’s treehouse. Below is a much more modern one – my favourite is the traditional. Which is yours?

And here’s a picture of the interior of a traditional treehouse – doesn’t it look like something out of ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarves’?

Quite twee but so fairytaleish!

Fabulous Fabrics Friday: Still Life by Sanderson

Published by under fabric

I’ll do a post on Sanderson’s latest collection next week perhaps but for now, I’ve realised I never posted about their  Bloomsbury Canvas Prints and Embroideries collection which are inspired by the hugely creative output of the artists, poets and designers of the 1930s, especially those associated with the Bloomsbury Group and the Omega Workshops.

The charm of the collection reflects the eclectic nature of influences ranging from Post Impressionist paintings and textiles, to the interior decoration in houses such as Charleston Farmhouse, the beautifully preserved home of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, both of whom were key personalities within the Bloomsbury Group.

I love the sheer colour and vividness of these particular fabrics. With a plain sofa, you can really let your hair down by adding lots of colourful cushions and then decide if you want curtains too :)

If you need any more information on these fabrics, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Wallpaper Wednesday: Lucky Charms Wallpaper

Published by under Shop Products,Wallpapers

Are you superstitious? I have to admit that it is not unknown for me to throw salt over my shoulder if I spill it, however, I sometimes deliberately walk under a ladder (as long as there isn’t anyone standing on it painting!) as though  daring something to happen and then feeling hugely relieved when it doesn’t – bizarre I know!

The latest wallpaper design by Barneby Gates named ‘Lucky Charms’ features symbols of fortune arranged in a classical urn formation. The horse-shoes, crossed keys, acorns and ladybirds (amongst others) are sure to bring luck to any home!

Lucky Charms is a striking wallpaper design with understated elegance. I like the metallic in it too as I love the way the metallic changes colour with the differing lights during the course of the day. I also like the way the main pattern is enclosed within the vertical lines – would be great for adding some height to a room too.
